NYFE 11: Results
NewYorkFighting.com was on hand to cover New York Fight Exchange 11 this past Saturday. The event featured 13 fights, all three-rounds with MMA-style rules, with two titles on the line. The event was held at Club Amazura, in Jamaica, Queens. The night’s air was sticky, hot, and humid, as fans restlessly waited in line to enter. Once inside, the wide-open venue boasted a host of drinks and seating surrounding the black cage. Fighters dressed in hoodies and sweatpants took turns shadowboxing inside the ring, as last-minute meetings between coaches and promoters took place off-site. WKA officials took their seats around the cage and flipped through the scorecards in front of them, while “Larry the Legend” climbed into the ring and announced that the fights were to begin.
Several exciting events occurred at NYFE 11: Macaloloy of Dragon’s Den MMA won his first amatuer fight, Stock of Team Believe won 49 seconds into the first round, and Fajardo of The Few Academy stepped in as a last-minute replacement for a grappling match, with only ten minutes notice. A wedding proposal was done in front of the entire audience, with her “Yes!” meeting cheers. Professional wrestler and former WWF entertainer Nicole Bass sat in the audience and smiled at fans. The night ended around 1 AM, with many amateurs experiencing their first-ever fight, and understanding that this was only the beginning of their fight journey.
